Recruitment

We would love to meet you!

Stepping into MIT life is exhilarating. The abounding opportunities available, spanning from cutting-edge cancer research to improv comedy, shape us into capable adults and influence the legacy we leave on the world. In a place which knows no bounds we are left wondering: where does one even begin?

For myself and my sisters, the answer was Panhel and specifically Alpha Phi. Discovering a nurturing community to care for me and ignite joy and inspiration allowed me to confront challenges head-on and make the most of my MIT experience.

Growing up in Canada with Mexican heritage, I knew very little about sororities when I arrived on campus. The prospect of recruitment seemed tiresome and daunting, leaving me uncertain about joining Panhel. Fortunately, my roommate Adriana urged me to take the leap. In hindsight, this was a clear indicator that she’d end up with me in Alpha Phi. What I found after joining was a group of women driven to leave the world a better place than they found it, on campus and beyond. I have made friends for life who will try a new recipe with me on a Friday night and refer me to an internship the next morning. I am proud of the person I have become because I have grown and learned from my sisters; Brooke has taught me how to organise fundraisers aiming to end period poverty, Lily has taught me what it means to be a great listener, and Emily has taught me academic discipline in the form of late-night study sessions.

I hope everyone at MIT is lucky enough to find their "home under the dome” as I have, and I encourage you to consider all that the Panhel community has to offer.

AOE,

Camila
